When wearing football pads, you can follow your coach and senior player or you can follow the manufacturer’s instructions given in the manual books. I also teach you some tips for wearing pads with my research and experience.
Here are some general tips and tricks for wearing football pads:
Here all main pads wearing processes are mentioned such as shoulder pads, rib pads, knee pads, and elbow pads.
Shoulder Pads:
When you wear the shoulder pad, you should take the help of the coach and your co-player who has well experience in shoulder pads.
Place the shoulder pad through the head, don’t put it like a button shirt. make sure the pad is in the center of your chest.
And you can also check, whether it properly covers the sensitive parts or not such as the chest shoulder, and AC joint. These are the areas where the chance of injury is high.
Make sure there is no pinching or binding in the collar or neck area. You need to move your head without any pinching.
Remember properly fitted shoulder pads are an important first step in player protection.
Hip Pads:
when you wear hip pads, you will get 4 or more pockets in the traditional girdle, a girdle is a football pant to hold the pads.
Nowadays, pads are sewn to the girdle, no need to add more pads manually. You just wear a girdle or football pants and an A pad is also available to cover the hip and work like a hip pad.
But some of the players love to wear traditional Football pants and they put on their pads as their choice. You can also insert the hip pad manually in your hand.
Look, you will get some holes for the belt, Put the belt in holes then when you come to the tailbone area of the pants. Put the pad over the pants and put the belt on the hole of the pad, again put the hole of the pants. Just watch the video for a better understanding.
Finally, check whether the pad is properly positioned in place or not, Then tighten the belt.
knee pads;
These pads are placed on the knee area. There are two pockets available for knee pads in football pants. Pads come in different shapes. You can choose two as your comfort and well-fitting.
If you are wearing knee-padded pants, you don’t have to put the the external knee pad. only you just check whether it is properly positioned or not. if not, just replace the pads with your hands.
if you feel that it is too loose, then you can also use compression knee sleeves and knee straps to keep it tight.
Normal girdle, there are no pads sewn into the pants, you have to put the knee pad in your girdle,
Elbow pads:
These pads are made of elastic bands and foam. The band holds the elbow sleeves to go down and foam protects the elbow and arm. These pads can be used for other sports and activities such as cycling, roller skating, skateboarding, volleyball, skiing, and snowboarding.
Wear the sleeves pulling upward to the hand and check whether the foams are properly fit or not at the exact position.
Rib Pad:
Rib pads are sometimes included with shoulder pads, you can also purchase additional rib pads separately. Most of the time you can see that taller players wear these types of pads. Their injury of chance is higher than short players.
There are a number of rib pads that come in different shapes and sizes. As the players comfort they use these.
Put the shoulder pad on a plain surface, Open the all straps and nuts from the rib protector or rib pads. You can take the help of a Screwdriver to separate and reset them with a shoulder pad.
Now you can put the shoulder pad and rib pads at a time with the help of your friends and coach. Adjust the straps and belt to better fit.
After you set up all the pads, you should move around a bit and check whether they make you comfortable or not. If not, adjust the straps or pads as per your convenience.
